Native Google Data Studio Connector for Facebook, Bing Ads, Twitter, LinkedIn Ads

Hey all,

Here I can see some of you already played around with Google Data Studio. Such a great & free tool for data visualization and reporting. Thing is when it comes down to non-Google data such as Facebook, Bing and Twitter, we need to use Google Sheets as a workaround - which can take lots of time since we need to make sure the formats are compatible with Data Studio.

So my team at Supermetrics has been working hard the past few months and finally are extremely thrilled to announce our native Data Studio connectors, which directly pull all your marketing data to Data Studio! Now you can fetch data from Facebook, Bing, Twitter, Linkedin and other marketing platforms into Data Studio without the need to use Google Sheets as a workaround.

We just released this connector very recently so really hope to hear your thoughts/suggestions. So give it a spin and let me know how it goes! Look forward to all your comments.

The current only free way to connect Facebook Ads to Data Studio is to first submit your data to Google Sheets first and then connect it to Google Data Studio.

Porter is the provider of these connectors; We have an idea why no one is currently offering a free sample (aka limited and always free product) instead of just a free trial.

It turns out that maintaining any conductor is a huge challenge for everyone. It is an ongoing task, not a one-time task. If someone decides to make a free conductor, it will probably be outdated or affected within a few months.

As Providers, we need to constantly update and repair these connections; We rely on Facebook API updates.

The latest iOS 14 update, for example, represents a major change in the product. Often times, Facebook updates and deprecates the fields and their API versions. To maintain the product, there should always be a developer behind it.

To set expectations, all Facebook ad connectors on the market are paid (they should be).

If you're still not willing to pay for a connector, you can still submit your Facebook ad data for free to Google Sheets and link your spreadsheet to Google Data Studio, but it's very manual or limited.

Just as with Data Studio, automatically pulling data from Facebook into Google Sheets requires constant effort from developers. Therefore, Google Sheets connections - although there may be free options - will be limited anyway, and a direct connection will be more robust and flexible than having spreadsheets in between.

As a current option only, the best way to report Facebook ads on Data Studio for free is to export manually by going to Business Manager, setting the report, downloading a CSV file, and pasting the data into Google Sheets connected to Data Studio.
