Website vendor recommendations

Extremely late here... if you're an indie dealer with 100+ units, I strongly recommend you get a free digital ecosystem audit from Overfuel.

The beauty of being and indie dealer is there ZERO reason your website should not be passing Google's Core Web Vitals (CWV), unlike an OEM store forced to leverage tech that breaks site performance.

Why does it matter? Shift Digital said it best in their 2025 Pulse Report, stating $30 of every $100 spent on driving shoppers to your site is WASTED when your site fails CWV. If "auto tech expert" tells you it doesn't matter, you need a new expert.

Nevermind the fact you're driving fewer organic leads, you're likely seeing ~30% fewer conversions. Reach out to agency Fountain Forward about the data study they ran on Overfuel vs. top players in automotive -- real, third party, unpaid comparison study and decide for yourself.

We at Overfuel build sites designed to (1) pass CWV out-of-the-box (check out fishersimports.com on your mobile device) and convert your visitors at a industry record-setting rate.

Full disclosure: I'm the CRO at Overfuel.

I do like the Overfuel dealer sites. Consumer facing is clean and fast. Any connections with Mercedes-Benz corp for approval? Not to knock DealerInspire but working inside on of WP has become cumbersome and the way they have it set up to access different widgets and add-ons, honestly it's a pain in the ARS and a real time SUCK.

Back and forth between the main options and the dealerinspire add-on options or whatever you want to call it, it begins to numb my brain. We were basically forced over to the platform through Benz compliance a few years back and it's had me missing the DealerOn platform is that tells ya anything.

Thanks, Jeff.

Consumer-facing:

Our on-page design thesis began by studying Carvana and other top consumer shopping experiences -- businesses who had vast user data and had spent millions of dollars on A/B testing.

We see some really "pretty" design work by some auto website vendors, which was well suited for the early 2000s; however, on the mobile device, where ~80% of shopping traffic flows today, the small vertical canvas doesn't lend itself to big, unique creative. So, we opted for sleek, simple and intentional.

Of course, under the hood, we're delivering a CWV-passing-capable site out-of-the-box and pushing our dealers to not break performance with bad habits from automotive's past. We're currently working with a handful of 3rd-party vendors to help them optimize their widgets for CWV.

It's going to take a village to fix the automotive ecosystem.

WordPress:

Hey, the current Overfuel company website is on WP but I'm FINALLY migrating off of it this quarter. WP was a good run for the world but there's too many other platform sites available now that are far more performative (in Google's and the consumer's eyes).

As I'm sure you've seen, the data studies comparing the performance of WP to modern mass platforms like Duda, Wix, Shopify say it all -- WP is in deep trouble.

Of course, you can't use most of those platforms for automotive due to the nuance required. That's we chose to build Overfuel.

Mercedes-Benz:

Unfortunately, we are not an approved provider. While 28% of our client base is OEM (and growing rapidly), we currently do not have a Mercedes store as a client. We'd love the opportunity.

I want to throw our hat in the ring at Overfuel. The goal with Overfuel is basically to fix the 'laggy dealer site' problem. Most dealership platforms are built on legacy stacks that prioritize back-end inventory management over front-end performance. We're essentially applying modern SaaS tech to the auto industry—focusing on sub-second load times and a mobile-first UI so people actually stay on the page instead of bouncing while a spinner loads.
