I find myself back and forth between Safari, FireFox and Chrome. I'm not sure I have a preference as each have features the others do not. Lately, I've found myself getting back to using Chrome more often.

Apparently I'm not the only one - Google Chrome Browser Gaining Share In Battle With Microsoft Internet Explorer GOOG MSFT - Investors.com

A single day in March foreshadowed news this week that, by one tracker's measurements, Google Chrome has leapfrogged Microsoft Internet Explorer to become the No. 1 Web browser.

And as Chrome becomes more popular, observers say the 4-year-old browser seems poised to be a sort of envelope product connecting Google's Gmail, YouTube, Google+ and other products and helping Google better track users over multiple services.

I'm curious to what browser(s) other DR members are using.

What browser(s) are you using for work and play?
Why do you prefer that browser?
What are some of your favorite features and or plug-in apps?

What browser(s) are you using for work and play? Firefox. Just Firefox
Why do you prefer that browser? 'da Fox
What are some of your favorite features and or plug-in apps? No - They are the devil.

In all seriousness that's all I use just because I'm comfortable with it. I've tried making the move to Chrome awhile back since that's what all my 'computer friends' use, but just could never make the full time switch.

Was heavy on Chrome for a long time but it recently started messing with my Adobe package. Lots of freezing and non loading and then lack of work getting done.

Back to Firefox (is it 2010 again?), forgot how much I love the Web Developer Toolbar, and downthemall, Firebug, sooo many things I forgot I loved. I do like Measure It better on Chrome but can't figure out why.

Originally started using Chrome with Firefox so I could have two Google accounts open, but the multiple sign in fixed that need for two browsers.

I use Chrome - mainly because of the Google Apps integration (it loads pages faster, and both my personal and work account use Google Apps). I have also found the ability to have my book marks, passwords, auto fill, extensions, and tabs follow me from computer to computer very valuable.

I do have a few other browsers installed on my work PC (FF, IE, Safari) - allows for cross browser testing of things. As it is important to see what your site will look like across "YOUR" users. Typical car dealership:

Just because "you" use it, does not mean your website visitor will.

ScreenCapture and Bitly are my favorite "apps" for Chrome.

I can back Drew up on his numbers. Seeing close to the same percentages here.

-------------As for me---------------

Chrome & Safari for me right now. Chrome is the default. I use a lot of developer tools, but my favorite is just having lightning fast search and address input in the same spot. Internet Explorer  ....only for testing purposes. I don't even touch FireFox anymore. It has become the biggest resource hog of them all. Chrome definitely plays the nicest with my resources on the Mac, PC, and virtual machines. Safari works best on the iPad and iPhone ;)

Weird. Our Android Browser is only 3%. Maybe time to find out why!

I wish Chrome would suggest as I type like Firefox... instead of having to go in order like "forum.dealer...." I could type in "Which browser do..." Firefox suggests sites I've visited before search results in the address bar.

You should also check this link to get a general idea of most used browsers:

It took me a little while to switch to chrome, but now it's all I use.

Even that link has the disclaimer:

W3Schools is a website for people with an interest for web technologies. These people are more interested in using alternative browsers than the average user. The average user tends to the browser that comes preinstalled with their computer, and do not seek out other browser alternatives.

These facts indicate that the browser figures above are not 100% realistic. Other web sites have statistics showing that Internet Explorer is a more popular browser.

Anyway, our data, collected from W3Schools' log-files, over many years, clearly shows the long and medium-term trends.

Point being to my site stats was that OUR user (the dealer website) is more inclined to use the default browser - Alex even sort of verified this. No mater what industry you are in, design for your audience.

@Jeff --- what are the %% for dealerrefresh?
