Hi,
I just woke up to a shock this morning when I saw my new bill. Unfortunately, this was not an error after calling the billing department. I spoke to my rep, and she thought the reasons for the price increase were the number of reports I ran and the fact that no inventory was posted online. I do have a retail license with a website, but I have been just doing wholesale for the last three years. I told her that it should not matter and that wholesalers use Carfax as well. I am running 2000-3000 Carfax reports a month. She will talk with management but she didn't think this will change the price. I told her they were making a mistake and I would be canceling.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with their bill? I just had a price increase last year from $399 to $462. Having access to Carfax reports is very important and I am not sure what to do. I can't justify paying almost $2000 a month.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

They are raising everyone's bill.

An over 400% increase is absolutely insane (right after 15% increase last year as well). I won't pay it and I suspect a lot of smaller dealers won't either. They really have a monopoly in the auto industry. Autocheck is not good enough to be any real competition. I hope enough dealers complain and close their accounts.

Hello, if you are a smaller dealer and getting huge increase, due to all of a sudden you're running 3000 or 4000 car fax report a month, and you are using one of the Cox Automotive product to help to shop online. That where the issue might be,

A dealer reports that Carfax increased their monthly bill from $462 to $1,980 (over 400%) and claims Carfax cited low online inventory and high report volume as reasons, though they use an unlimited plan. The root cause identified by multiple forum members is that Stockwave (their inventory management software) automatically runs Carfax reports in the background every time a vehicle is loaded or viewed, generating thousands of unnecessary reports monthly that Carfax is now billing for separately. The thread reveals a technical issue where Stockwave's built-in safeguards to prevent automated Carfax runs are not functioning properly, resulting in unexpected charges for dealers using the platform.
