What will happen to DealerRater?
Was this nothing more than a strategy to mess with AutoTrader.com?
Will we even hear the name DealerRater after 6 months?
I feel the same way @Alex Snyder! Genuinely happy for Chip Grueter this morning. Good guy with a good idea and "the goods" to see it through to completion.
Congratulations to DealerRater and Cars.com. This merger clearly shows the value and growing importance of personal reviews at the salesperson and service advisor level. Although our product at GrowthFX is designed for the dealer and employees to manage and leverage their own reputations, we strongly applaud the attention this will bring to improving customer experiences!
Cars.com announced its acquisition of DealerRater, prompting discussion about the strategic implications for the review platform's future and the competitive landscape with AutoTrader. The thread confirms Chip Grueter (DealerRater's founder) as the creator being acquired and celebrates the deal as validation of the importance of customer reviews in automotive retail. Key insight: industry professionals view the acquisition as both a personal win for Grueter and evidence that reputation management at the salesperson/service advisor level has become a valuable asset worth major investment.
