We just launched an AI Visibility Checker, a free online tool.

What to expect: After you find your dealership and start the audit, our system inspects your robots.txt and XML sitemap, then reviews the structured data on your home page, inventory page, and a vehicle detail page. A scored report with every finding — and exactly how to close each gap — is sent to the email address you provide.

In addition to checking to ensure your site is optimized, we're going to integrate whether you actually are appearing in AI results soon.

Feedback welcome!

This is really useful, the robots/sitemap/schema layer is where a lot of dealer sites quietly fall down and most people never think to check it. Going to run it on a client store. Curious about the piece you mentioned at the end, whether they're actually appearing, since that's the part we keep going back and forth on too. We've seen sites that look clean technically and still not surface, and third party stuff like review sites and directories seems to matter more than you'd think. Are you thinking of querying the assistants directly for that, or picking it up from referral traffic?

Ran a real scan on our own site last week so here's a data point for the "are you actually appearing" part, since that's the piece the checker doesn't do yet.

The technical layer was clean. Schema on every page, robots allowing all the AI bots, sitemap fine. And we still barely showed up for category questions. The scan showed a split. When someone asks the AI about us by name we're in about 65% of answers. When they ask the generic question, what tool does this, we're in under 4%. Same pages. The difference was corroboration. We had one profile linked in our schema, and the competitors that beat us on the generic question had G2, Capterra, Crunchbase, real review counts. The AI reads your site and trusts it as a source, it just won't hand your name to a shopper unless someone else vouches for you. Makai that's exactly the review site thing you're describing.

Two things that measurably helped. First party data. We publish a free used car report from our own platform numbers under a CC license and it is the single most cited thing we have, the models grab the numbers. Comparison pages get cited constantly too. And the boring one, the sameAs list in the Organization schema, we went from one entry to seven real profiles plus a Wikidata item. Cheap and it moves the needle.

One thing to add to the tool if it's not there yet Doug, whether the site actually server renders. Three competitors we looked at returned under ten words to a non JS crawler. Their pages are invisible to half the AI crawlers and they don't know it.

✨ AI Highlights

Overfuel's Douglas Karr introduced a free AI Visibility Checker tool built specifically for dealer websites, which audits robots.txt, XML sitemaps, and structured data across key pages before emailing a scored report with actionable fixes. Community members responded positively, with one noting that technical hygiene is where many dealer sites quietly fail, while another user shared a compelling real-world data point: clean technical SEO alone isn't enough — AI platforms require third-party corroboration from sources like G2 or Crunchbase before surfacing a brand in generic queries, not just branded ones.
