Auto Comply update to Cookie Consent

But - it's not really reducing your traffic, it's just limiting your measurement of the traffic.

If you use ComplyAuto, you have to be ok with the fact that you're going to destroy your ability to measure traffic and conversions - there's simply no way around it. Honestly, I don't get why dealers are using it - I get that something is required in California, but tons of dealers use it that don't have to - and now they're all upset that traffic appears to tank.

The sales team at complyauto is superb at instilling a feeling of terror in auto execs.

That’s the reason. That’s the whole reason.

Having a recurring issue with ComplyNet blocking some of my third party tools (Trade Pending), it was fixed back in February, but now it is happening again. Anyone else experiencing this? It there a better option for the banner that might not create this problem?
I'd recommend looking into Enzuzo.

Plans start at $9 /mo and they offer the ability to geofence your banner, so it only appears to users in states like California.

Wondering what/who made TrueCar cave in?

Yeah it looks like TrueCar now simply notifies you that they use cookies, but doesn't ask for consent, so still less extreme than ComplyAuto's banner. I'm guessing being based in California might be a factor.

✨ AI Highlights

Dealers using ComplyAuto's cookie consent tool raised concerns about a planned update that would block tracking cookies (GA4, Google Ads, Facebook pixels) by default unless visitors explicitly opt-in, fearing significant traffic measurement impact. After the CEO was contacted, ComplyAuto reversed course and will only block cookies for users who actively opt-out rather than requiring opt-in by default. The broader consensus suggests that while some privacy regulation is necessary, ComplyAuto's approach puts independent dealers at a disadvantage compared to major competitors (Autotrader, CarGurus, Edmunds) and large corporations that don't display consent popups, and that a unified national privacy law would be preferable to fragmented state-by-state regulations.
