I agree. But to master the prompt is knowing your tools (programming language). It's like OBD scanners. Being able to look up PE1001 isn't it though. You need to know what else is going on. So yes 100% for Domain knowledge.
I spend about 1-2 hours watching YT for the latest changes in Ai recently with some fall back on coding languages.
Friday/Saturday is 1-2 hours for DealerRefresh weekly video.
I don't use Ai work much due to PII concerns. I have zero access to real data but it would be professionally irresponsible since the Ai calls home and our work machines can't handle even 1.5B models.
I use a macbook pro with the m1 max and 64gb of ram. I can get 20 tokens using something like LM studio. A coding IDE is just lag and can't be bothered so I pay the heavier tiers.
This is Windsurf using sonnet 3.5 from Condeium which is Anthrophic. I chose it over Cursor to test first.
I spend 3-4 hours in this IDE a night. I use Trae, Roo code (cline clone), and chatGPT o1 / 4 as backups.
The code base is pretty large and sonnet 3.5 even after 2-3 days of trying to fix the current issue is still not smart enough to code it's way out of the box even by accident. Very few YT videos will talk about the problems that a mature code base presents to Ai. All the other YT videos that push the hype are just as informative as those drop shipping buying pallets to resell are.
But!! as Joe said, "
Buckle your seat belts. It’s gonna be one hell of a ride."
I totally agree!
