How do you handle your courtesy internet connections? We have open wifi with no restrictions right now and a desktop computer set aside with only antivirus on it. The only good thing about my setup is that customer internet is effectively isolated from my internal network by connecting to the modem directly and getting it's own public IP.

Seperate VLAN (from dealernetwork) for wireless access and the 2 customer computers in waiting lounge. On this VLAN use OpenDNS for basic filtering of porn, etc.

Ours is way too restrictive, there may be reasons for this that I am not privy to, but not being able to access gmail seems a little extreme.
My guess is that it is to avoid the liability associated with someone claiming that there password or info was stolen on our network or something like that.

Wireless at all locations with WebSense filtering out certain sites (Porn, Terrorism, etc.). At a few locations we have a few ThinClients for the laptop-less customers.
People are very forgiving of what customers do to you. If a customer sees another customer on a porn site, they might say something to the business, but they won't hold the business responsible for what another customer is doing. We haven't had too many issues. When it comes to this area, employees are the much MUCH larger problem. If a customer sees an employee doing something wrong, then that is a totally different story.

Of course that's a good one when you're sitting on a plane next to somebody that you don't like.
