It's centralized computing accessed by a bunch of dumb terminals. I am not enough of an IT geek to go any deeper. Salespeople really don't need a PC, they just need a monitor, mouse and keyboard plugged into a centralized computing solution. Perhaps one of the many IT people here can shed more light on such a solution.
I have worked in an environment where 30+ salespeople provided individual computers and plugged into the network. Since we used a web-based ILM it worked reasonably well. We provided virus protection.
