Does the end of Net Neutrality have any bearing on the car business?

:iagree:

However, as a rule, I believe the internet should be free.
We fought for years to keep the government out of the internet, I have no idea why everyone suddenly wants them to control it.
The current net neutrality laws had major issues, but maybe they should have adjusted them instead of repealing them entirely.

Full disclosure: I'm in Canada where we don't have to deal with any of this because our ISPs already have regulations in place to force them to share their fibre lines with smaller ISPs, etc. Most cities have 3-4 internet options and they compete using the same infrastructure.

Automotive industry professionals discuss whether the FCC's repeal of Net Neutrality regulations will impact dealerships and car businesses, with particular concern that ISPs could create "fast lanes" for large corporations or bundled service packages that restrict consumer access. While some participants worry about competitive disadvantages for smaller dealers and rising hosting costs, others argue the impact on automotive will be minimal compared to broader infrastructure improvements like 5G deployment. The thread reveals mixed views on regulation itself, with Canadian participants noting that existing infrastructure-sharing regulations can achieve competitive benefits without heavy-handed content restrictions.
