GoDaddy Private Registration = Spam Blacklisted Emails

Running into an issue where a domain that we have, and use for our CRM emails, is being blacklisted by select ISPs. Unfortunately, the primary ISP blocking our mail is the largest local ISP in our local area.

Originally, the domain was housed on GoDaddy's servers, with the MX record pointing to CRM, and a GoDaddy routing any web traffic to our actual website domain.

Then, I put the domain on one of my personal hosting accounts, pointed the MX record to CRM, then noticed the MXToolBox system is still showing GoDaddy as the DNS of record. With that still showing, we are continuing to be blocked.

Any ideas for a work around to this, aside from taking away the private registration data on GoDaddy?

Few questions:

What was the reason your dealership domain’s Whois info was made private to begin with?

How do you know that private registrant data is for sure the reason they’re blocking you?

Have you tried reaching out to the isp to get unblocked?

From what I've seen this is common, for dealerships to have their domains blacklisted based upon outrageous amounts of spam (whether they did it purposely or not). I'd reach out to ISP support(s) and escalate it. Try and get it settled. Maybe call Godaddy to ask why the DNS points there...?

I am going to guess because corporate registers all of our domains & would like to avoid receiving extra spam, the domains were privately registered.

The DNS servers for GoDaddy's private registration are GoDaddy DNS servers. I have spent hours on the phone with the ISP, they keep telling me that as long as GoDaddy is the public facing DNS server, we will be blacklisted due to the large amounts of porn spam being sent through GoDaddy's servers.

This is a brand new domain, that has never been used from the dealership side for anything except URL redirects. The ISP keeps falling back to, "We use MXToolbox, they show you are blacklisted, so we won't do anything about it." I am tempted to modify my site forms to call out this ISP's users & let them know if they supply us with that as their only means of contact, we won't be able to reply & are not ignoring them.

GoDaddy is next up, along with asking corporate to de-privatize this Domain, so I can see if that fixes all of the blacklist issues.
