So it feels like it's here to stay, how are you (dealers & vendors), planning on using that thing?
I'm in on the Tik Tok hype. I'm just not too sure what "good" looks like right now for digital advertising for dealerships. I've seen some really great steps forward from Tik Tok for digital retail like allowing you to link in bios, as well as the ability to direct a click from their videos to a landing page. Will be interesting to see what the next step forward for them is.
Also RE: Vine, they fell away because of a lack of funding. Tik Tok fortunately (unfortunately?) is owned by a Chinese company called ByteDance with copious amounts of cash. They should be around for a while, and have a shown a willingness to make changes and adapt. We're trying new things with Tik Tok video and would love to share plans offline with anyone interested.

Just had to ask the wife... had never heard of Tik Tok. Never heard of Vine either... and I'm semi-embarrased to ask -- what is the aforementioned "IG" at which people should not have scoffed?![]()

Dealers and vendors debate whether to invest in TikTok marketing, with skeptics questioning its longevity (citing Vine's failure) and its relevance to an aging-up user base, while optimists argue that platforms historically dismissed by older generations (Instagram, Facebook) eventually became mainstream and that TikTok's financial backing and evolving ad features make it worth exploring. The key insight is that early adoption of emerging social platforms may be prudent even with uncertainty, as today's teen users become tomorrow's car buyers—though the thread reveals significant generational divide in platform awareness among dealership professionals.
