Good news: Demand for new vehicles is extremely strong. J.D. Power expects 2015 sales to ring in at 14.2M units, which reflects another year of growth and an increase of 600,000 units over last year.

Not so good news: Next year, the growth will only be one third of what the industry achieved this year.

Looking forward to 2016, J.D. Power anticipates that again the industry will see growth, however, only an extra 200K in vehicle sales. In other words, with less growth to be shared across automakers, many model lines that dealers carry will not achieve year over year growth.

The thread discusses J.D. Power's 2015-2016 sales forecasts, highlighting that while 2015 showed strong demand with 14.2M expected units (up 600K from 2014), growth will significantly decelerate in 2016 with only 200K additional units anticipated. This slowdown means dealers will face increased competition as not all model lines will achieve year-over-year growth, requiring a more strategic, data-driven approach to maintain sales performance.
