A Perspective on Automotive Forums for Attracting the Next Generation

Actually, I find this thread amusing. Joe, Jeff, Alex (Where the hell is John?) could be viewed as "bullies" and all left successful stores to become vendors. I know that I have tangled with all of them and them with each other. All have strong opinions and not afraid to share them. The car business is not for the faint of heart. I think we all benefited from those exchanges.

I don't come on here very much. I still do some dealership work as long as it doesn't interfere with my fishing.

✨ AI Highlights

Community members express frustration that aggressive, know-it-all posting styles are driving away quieter voices and new dealers from automotive forums, while vendor representatives sometimes use forum posts against dealers in business negotiations—tactics that undermine the collaborative spirit the community was built on. Key contributors like Alex Snyder acknowledge they've stopped participating due to posts being weaponized against them professionally, and the group agrees that toxic behavior and vendor pitching are shrinking dealer participation and forum vitality. The emerging consensus is that forums need active moderation to protect psychological safety, respectful disagreement, and authentic knowledge-sharing if they're going to attract and retain the next generation of industry professionals.
