CARMAX TV Ads SUCK!!

I'm OK with the CarMax ads. From my seat, Ad's that don't trigger an emotion are forgetful. Emotions cut in both directions, ANY emotion created by an ad is a win.

Proof that 'Fingernails on a chalkboard' sells cars

^ Ha ha... good ol' Billy Fuccillo. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Fuccillo (actually, that article needs to be edited. It's "it's gonna be huge," not "it's huge.")

I used to work on all of their sites and paid search and SEO. Small world.

Reactions: Jeff Kershner

✨ AI Highlights

Jeff Kershner vents about CarMax's TV commercials, calling them ineffective marketing, but other forum members debate whether provocative ads are actually successful regardless of whether they inspire positive or negative emotions. The discussion evolves into a broader conversation about automotive advertising, with members sharing examples of other dealership campaigns (Billy Fuccillo, DriveTime) and debating the effectiveness of memorable versus forgettable advertising tactics. The key insight is that even annoying or poorly-received ads may serve their purpose by creating emotional engagement and brand recall, though opinions differ on whether negative emotions translate to actual sales.
