Cars.com introduces Price Badging: Moving the Conversation from "What" to "Why."

Cars.com recently rolled out badging across their SRPs and VDPs. By unpacking what goes into a vehicle's price, they aim to create transparency between dealers and consumers - and ultimately drive more connections.

"Badging provides dealers a greater opportunity to demonstrate their value, be more transparent, and close more deals quickly and efficiently.

Our work on providing better pricing tools has just begun. Going forward, we will continue to provide context beyond the sticker price and give in-market car shoppers greater insights into the why behind the price - allowing us to create connections that fuel growth for our customers."

Are these badges truly helpful or do they too often confuse and/or misguide the shopper?

How does it offer us the opportunity of anything? Cars is the one that holds the keys to how this thing works. How the hell they get to this idea of closing more deals is straight retarded. I seriously can't even with these guys anymore and their soapbox.

Hummm.... Me watching Cars.com trying to make something that's actually beneficial for the dealer!!!

Are they serious? That's a straight up insult to the people paying them for their "service". If this is how the game needs to be played, dealers are going to have to resort to collecting non-advertised fees at the time of purchase like the airlines and hotels were forced to do. Isn't there a law against this in Texas?

The other site that boasts this feature gives the Consumer a false sense of a cars value without spelling out what criteria is taken into account. It's a sad state of affairs that Dealers like me are paying for the privilege of being blasted.
