Did any other DealerSocket users receive a notification letter regarding a DMS integration fee increase effective 01/31/2017? The proposed increase represents a 50% increase in DealerSocket's monthly cost. Has anybody found a workaround for the DMS integration which would result in not paying the fee?

I can tell you from painful experience the larger DMS companies have raised the costs by 50 to 300%. From our perspective, they are literally crushing innovation & small companies, from their perspective they are securing the data. One suggestion would be to talk to Steve Cottrell, President of Authenticom. He is at the forefront of this. Another group to check out is ivsgllc.com, they have some DMS solutions

Until there are other options available for data integration that offer real time bi-directional integration you are at the mercy of your DMS provider. I can understand requiring a limited certification and higher cost for adding and changing records as this could cause a nightmare situation if implemented incorrectly.

Your options are to switch to a DMS like Auto Soft or Auto/Mate there are no fees with them and they both have open API real time Integrations. The problem with using one of the data houses is the real time part and having to pay someone else. If you are on RR or CDK there are options for DMS that will save you a ton of money, give you a up to date system, no contract and great customer support.
