"Did your $2M spend in marketing work?" What Report Shows That?

Just finished our group meeting with Dale Pollak and I asked him this question after. He summed it up to tracking VDPs per, for Used only, but did add it is just one of the measurements to use. He had to catch a flight. The fact that he flew in to see our group for a 3-hour meeting blows my mind. Great guy.

With that said, he also pointed that one could have a perfect looking vAuto vehicle summary dashboard and not sell more cars because of the other variables; recon, sales process, etc. I could show green numbers and arrows pointing up and to the right all day on what I can control but if we aren't selling more cars we have to find out where the hole is. The number of variables in anything we measure at the 35,000-foot view is mind numbing.

✨ AI Highlights

Dealers debate how to measure marketing ROI beyond simple sales volume, with participants advocating for tracking intermediate metrics like showroom traffic, website sessions, and lead quality that reflect their direct control. The consensus emphasizes balancing detailed funnel analytics with the fundamental business reality that marketing effectiveness ultimately flows through showroom conversions to sold units, while also tying measured metrics to compensation plans to ensure accountability.
