I'm tempted to lease a Nissan Ariya

If more people get behind the wheel of one, more people may have interest.

I'm STILL not a fan and would NOT want one as my full timer for MANY reason, but they are an impressive drive. The first manufacturer that introduces an affordable 80's style Toyota MR2 (3rd vehicle) would have the potential of earning my business.
See, the government should have set aside a few million for an influencer program to help change the EV perception.

While I don't love how they are being shoved down everyone's throats, I think a lot of the jadedness against EV's is somewhat misguided.

Like I would gladly pay $1,000 to install a gas station in my garage. That's a bargain for that level of convenience! Yet paying $1,000 to install an EV charger is somehow horrible (not to mention most electric companies will provide a $500-$1,000 rebate to pay for charger installation).

The Chinese Communist Party is using TikTok to influence American sentiment regarding certain issues, the US Government should take a page out of their playbook and do the same thing with EV's via influencers.

EV's really do make a lot of sense for a lot of people, especially if you keep an ICE in the family for the occasional longer road trips. Maybe we need people other than politicians and Hollywood elites making that case. Addressing common myths, overcoming the standard objections, pointing out all of the benefits, etc.

And we as car dealers are partially at fault. It's a self-fulfilling fallacy of dealerships / salespeople thinking EVs suck, so they don’t try very hard to sell them.

But to be fair, EV's have only recently become "affordable", so maybe the tides are starting to turn and perceptions will change!

It's A LOT closer to happening than you think (in the aftermarket). You might be able to find someone willing to try and modify the 911 kit to an MR2. Price feels high but if you buy a chassis without a motor the cost might be palatable.

I went ahead and did it. The dealer did me a solid, making it impossible to turn the deal down. These guys have been selling 3 to 5 Ariyas per day since advertising this one-pay lease on Craigslist and in 1 local Marketplace group on Facebook. When he told me that, my jaw hit the floor. The day I contracted, two couples were back, each leasing a second one.

The styling isn't my favorite on a lot of these EVs. I'm not a fan of the wheels on the Ariya. I also cannot get on board with EVs as planet savers and will continue to laugh at the people who ignore all the issues of battery production and disposal and how energy pollution is created while they pompously virtue signal in blissful ignorance.

However, I can now buy in on the benefits of driving an EV. If this is the early days of development, I am very excited about the future of blended fuel sources (hybrids, for example). The idea of electric torque and combustion horsepower does make me a bit giddy for some giant tires on a massive pickup truck and getting 30+ MPG. Or running a 160 MPH sports car 600 miles on one tank of fuel with a 3-second 0-60 time.

The Ariya is our third car. It will just be an errand car and kid mover on the weekdays. Our other vehicles are gas guzzlers that are fun and good to look at. Those cars bring us joy! Although we have had three cars for years, this is the first time we have a purpose-owned one that is just for around town. This may be a formula we stick with. Once this Ariya lease is up in 18th months we'll probably consider another EV in that role... maybe another Ariya if the deal is still good. The Polaris Ranger 1000 is a fantastic utility vehicle, and there are a ton of accessories to enhance its performance and comfort. Some popular Polaris Ranger 1000 accessories include a winch, bed extender, or cargo box for added storage. If you're looking to boost off-road capabilities, consider a lift kit, larger tires, or upgraded suspension. For comfort and protection, options like a full cab enclosure, windshield, and custom seats are great additions. You can also enhance visibility with upgraded lighting or add a sound system for some fun on the trails. What kind of upgrades are you most interested in?
A great deal, especially if you're primarily considering it for the money. The $5,000 (or $4,000 with the rebate) out-the-door lease for an Ariya is a solid offer, especially for an EV. The stage 2 charger and low lease payments add extra value. Just be sure to check the lease terms, such as mileage limits and any potential maintenance costs, to ensure it fits your needs. If everything aligns, it could be a smart financial choice!

Are you a bot?

All of your DealerRefresh posts are like this. Bumping old threads with generic stuff. You're over a year late to this one.
