Why are we letting auctions dictate the outcome of a transaction? Who are they to play judge jury and executioner? Especially in the new age of online only. A buyer is guilty of nothing in these transactions! Yet here we are in 2025 still getting screwed over by the auctions backing the big sellers. It's a sad state affairs in this industry. :(

Hi Jim,

Auctions and vendors can be terrible at times with not declaring faults, but I don’t think this seems like one of those occasions. They stated the engine needs repaired. It looks like a head gasket issue. That can be repaired. Besides, the vendor has no responsibility to diagnose the exact fault, just to declare that a general fault exists, so that you can decide if you want exposed to the risk the car comes with. Buying these type of cars is like betting on red or black and best avoided if you don’t like losing. Just avoid buying declared engine faults in the future and you will have 100% legal recourse if the engine is cooked when you go to pick it up.
