I may be late to the party on this, but for the love of all that is holy stop calling your internet leads. We used to call our internet leads first and then text afterwards. Recently we made a change to our internet lead process and rather than calling customer's first, we started texting first. Our plan was to call them within 30 minutes if they don't answer, but we've hardly even had to do that.

Our response rate since that time has jumped to a whopping 90% and 90% of those responded within minutes. Our sales conversion has also jumped 5%. This number doesn't account for customer's who now have their name on in transit inventory either. Pretty crazy numbers.

✨ AI Highlights

  • A dealer reports switching their internet lead process from calling first to texting first, resulting in a 90% response rate (with 90% responding within minutes) and a 5% sales conversion increase.
  • While one commenter suggests including quotes in initial texts, another dealer counters with data showing their stores achieve higher close rates by calling first (+95% of leads) rather than texting first, arguing texting should primarily serve to move customers toward phone conversations.
  • The thread reflects a genuine split in dealer opinion on optimal lead contact strategy, with anecdotal success on both sides but limited consensus on which approach actually drives superior results.
