Two questions:Why o why does our 'compare vehicles' suck?
And..
- Do we know how many customers use it?
- If the answer to the first question is low, is it because it sucks?
We built out an extensive comparison tool (as a vendor) and it was honestly a pain in the ass with little payoff.
I know why cars.com does well (SEO dealers name). Anyone know why/how Edmunds is killing it?

Joe Pistell, formerly of Cars.com, returns to automotive digital retail experimentation and shares early work on vehicle merchandising and SRP/VDP optimization. The thread highlights how Carvana and CarMax outpace traditional dealers by tightly integrating operations with engineering for rapid iteration, while fragmented vendor ecosystems lag behind chasing leads. Pistell also crowdsources a normalized YMMT data library for SEO title mapping and lands on Wikimotive as a promising resource.
